Drink Around the World
If you like to drink and love Disney then Drink Around the World is for you!
Drinking around the World is an unofficial way to visit all the countries around the World Showcase lagoon in EPCOT. The idea is that in each of the 11 counties (12 if you count the African Trading post) you buy an alcoholic drink the represents that country. It's a lot of fun. There are many different unofficial guides on what drinks to buy and which ones are the best. This list is simply the drinks myself and my drinking buddy chose to have on this particular day. having lived in Disney I have had other drinks in these countries but for the purpose of this list, it's going to be what we drank for the challenge.
My recommendation is:
1) Start early so you can pace yourself
2) have a drinking buddy to split some of the drinks with.
3) NEVER START IN MEXICO
(This one is more a warning as I started in Mexico and it's not the best idea to start with tequila)
So let's go through the counties and the drinks that I got (there are many to choose from, but these are the ones I liked and wanted to try)
Mexico - Strawberry Margaritas
This is the first stop on out drinking quest. I love margaritas and so does my drinking buddy so we got one each.
Norway - Red Stone Meade
There is not a huge selection of drinks to chose from in Norway if you're not a beer drinker. There is a wine cocktail, which is what my drinking buddy and I shared. It was pretty tasty.
China - BaiJoe Punch (Lychee Flavoured)
There are lots of drinks to chose from in China, once again we chose to have a cocktail, the Lychee Cocktail, whilst not a very strong flavour, was not the worst drink of the day. it was refreshing in the sun. Once again My Drinking Buddy and I shared this drink.
Africa Trading Post - Frozen Elephant
Straight up I want to say this drink (to me) was NASTY. It is a coke slushy with baileys mixed in. My Drinking Buddy enjoyed it and ended up drinking most of this drink. I think I would have preferred it if it was with non-milky alcohol instead.
Germany - Cider flight
This one might count as cheating as it was not from in the Germany pavilion but rather the German stand for food and wine. I got the cider flight which contain three flavours, pomegranate, Apple and Black Currant. The Black Currant was my favourite. My Drinking Buddy got a beer flight. Sadly we do not remember what beers he got, but they were all delicious apparently.
Italy - Rosa Rogale
This drink, we once again shared and was a seasonal drink for Christmas. It was a sparkling sweet red wine. However, it looks more like a rose' and definitely tasted more like a rase than a pure red wine. I really liked this drink a lot.
America - Pear Cider
In America my drinking buddy and I got two separate drinks, I got a pear Cider and he got a beer (Once again we never got the name of it). Ciders and beers are pretty standard drinks, it was nothing crazy, it was a nice tasting drink.
Japan - Violet Sake
The Japan pavilion is one of my favourites, its so calming and peaceful and has one of my all-time favourite drinks in EPCOT, The Violet Sake. This drink contains sake, purple pear and lime juice. I love this drink so much that I want to try and recreate it at home. My Drinking buddy didnt like this drink that much so I ended up having most of it.
Morrocco - Alcoholic Slushies
Nothing too crazy about this, My Drinking Buddy and I got two different flavoured slushies and they contained vodka. Mine was blue raspberry and his was cherry. It was pretty strong and VERY tasty. If you are looking for something a little crazier, there is this drink called a tornado (it is known among the cast member as a CP drink, meaning only college program kids get it) it is when they mix all the slushies and the different alcohols together. It is not a very good tasting drink. but it does the job.
France - Mimosa
In France, we shared a mimosa, which is champagne and orange juice. a classic drink and it was quite tasty.
UK - Cider and Black
Next up is the Uwhereere we each had our own drink again, my Drinking Buddy had a beer and I had what is known as a Cider and Black, this is an apple cider with Ribena (black currant syrup). It is one of my favourites in EPCOT.
Canada - Cocktail
Last, but not least is Canada, here my Drinking Buddy and I shared a berry cocktail. It contained Ottawa apple, apple whisky with cranberry juice. This was the last drink of the night and was very tasty indeed, both of us wished we had gotten one each, maybe next time.
So that is the conclusion to my drink around the world. along the way, we did stop for food in China and France and also had some small snacks along the way so we wouldn't get too drunk to fast. I really want to do drink around the world again and try some different drinks next time,
See you next time
