Animal Crossing: New Horizons
longing for the outdoors? Sad you can't hang out with your friends? missing traveling to new places? Then Animal Crossing: New Horizons is for you!
This is the lastest game for the Nintendo Switch and it has taken the world by storm. The Animal Crossing franchise has always been popular but I dare say the success of this game was helped by the pandemic in the world. In saying that, this game is still Epic.
I have never played any Animal Crossing game before this one, I knew the basic concept from my friends who had played previous versions and some chit chat on Facebook about this one. I wanted to see what all the fuss was about but didn't have a switch of my own so I downloaded it on to my boyfriends switch. two days later I went and bought my own with a copy of the game so I could have my own island.
Animal Crossing new Horizons is the 5th version of the game which follows along with your character as they move to a desert- island to make a new home. Along with Tom Nook, his nephews Timmy and Tommy and 2 other villagers, you are only given a tent and phone you can fill with DIY recipes, you start to set up a community on the island.
This game is a fun mix of storytelling and sims. In order to progress and gain more villagers and more sophisticated things on your island such as a house, shops, and a bridge you need to collect DIY recipes in order to build more tools to then get more items to build these things.
In terms of gameplay, its pretty simple, you can move and interact with almost everything on the island, you can even earn money or "Bells' as they are referred to in the game to buy fancy decorations and you gain Nook miles for completed daily tasks like fishing or collecting fruit. These things help you to travel to other islands to gather more material for your island.
If you and your friends have the game and are friends on the switch you can visit each other islands and trade fruits or items to help each other.
This game is a lot of fo fun and is very playable in terms of hours you could spend on it. As the game allows you to go at your own pace, you can progress your island and have a full-on village within a few weeks or you could simply catch bugs and travel to different islands.
As someone who is new to this franchise, I honestly do love this game and have been on it every day since getting it to complete my daily task and to slowly get my island to a little village.
overall I would give this game a 7.5/10 it is very fun, very cute and extremely relaxing to play.
