San Diego Comic-Con

I would consider myself a 'nerd' specifically surrounding television shows and movie. I love most things Sci-fi and supernatural. I massive fan of Marvel and so many other things that would be classified as 'nerdy' and 'geeky'.

In July of 2015 I was lucky enough to find myself on a plane heading over to San Diego for the original comic convention. And boy was it overwhelming and exciting.

What is Comic-Con?
Comic-Con is an entertainment convention that covers various forms of media and genre such as television, films, books and comic books. These can range from superheros from the 40s, to science fiction and fantasy characters all the way up to pop culture television shows like The Big Bang Theory. It is held annually at the San Diego Convention Centre and has been since 1970.

*Comic-Cons occur worldwide and in various cities all the time, San Diego was the original one*

In the convention, various exhibits are displayed where people can buy items from their favorite series, no matter how obsolete or strange it may be. There are also select guest panels and signings that occur. Each city is differnt how ever San Diego is known for very high profile guests, an example of this is in 2015 when I was there the cast from Supernatural was there as well Stan Lee and the cast from SuperGirl.

My Experience

My family and I got the 4 day weekend pass, meaning we were able to access the convention all weekend. The first day, Thursday, was the least crowded and good thing to becasue we were so overwhelmed and had no clue where to start from. The convention center is HUGE! the first day we ended up just wandering around and seeing what we could find with no real pattern or order to anything. It was chaos. As someone who likes a plan and to stick with it it is safe to say I was a little stressed with the situation but it was worth it. We bought so much stuff on day 1 and by the end of the day out feet hurt so much we didn't know how we could manage another 3 days of it.

Friday was busier as people were taking the day off work to come and see the exhibition hall. We had a plan that day though. Start at the back and work out way forward. First stop thought to the Lootcrate booth. Why? Exclusive duh! Comic-Con is full of exclusive goodies, some free, most cost. And we were determined to get out hands on a least a few of these special items! We managed to get 2 exclusive crates (one on friday one on saturday) and inside where glorious goodies! It was the start of something new, because of this I know have a monthly subscription to Lootcrate because it is so amazing!

Saturday and Sunday were so busy! it was hard to walk in some places it was so crowded, definitely an experience. We managed to get some pretty sweet freebies, including an artistic Ant Man exclusive poster, torches with various superheroes on and posters, SO MANY POSTERS. My sisters walls are now covered in all of the posters we got.

A few of my favourite things that happened at Comic-Con was getting to win the Previously mentioned Ant Man poster, seeing Stan Lee and getting a photo of Melissa Benosit (SuperGirl). And getting to see a panel in Hall H, without having to que up!

How did I manage that? Well for those people whom don't know. Hall H is a very busy panel room. It has all the big names, Supernatural, Star Wars, The Walking Dead. Its an overnight line to get in and once you leave you have to line up again. We managed to get in with no line up becasue it was the last panel of the whole convention, Sunday at 4pm. The Panel was for a show called 'The Strain' feel free to look it up.

Overall Comic-Con was amazing and I had a blast and if i got the opportunity to go again I would in a heart beat!
